Heart broken
You never forget
the sense of whole-ness
that you knew when your mother was
here.
Like the smell of freshly baked bread
the reality of loss is easily accessed.
Sick and broken without her,
you trudge through a morass
of life eternally tinged
by absence.
Nothing can ever be the same again.
